ARS or Station Performance Analyzer

In one of the previous topics, I was asked to plunge deeper into the tasks performed by the Main Information Center of the Belarusian Railway ... well, let's start

I can’t tell you the whole thing, after all, this is the railway and the guys are harsh, and there are some moments that I simply don’t know myself.

However, I will try to describe the projects with which I myself am connected, at least superficially.

Today we will talk about the automated system "ARS" (decoding in the title).



For a start, for the lover of deep swimming, some additional information:


If you do not dig deep, then there are passenger trains, but there are freight;). For passenger trains, passenger stations are intended, and for freight trains - ... correctly, freight.

At these cargo stations, various technological operations with trains are performed. Each operation is accompanied by an information flow (about this later on), so that in each unit of time there is a real model of the railway landfill.

There is one main information center located in Minsk and 6 computer centers, one in each branch of the Belarusian Railways (Minsk, Baranovichi, Brest, Gomel, Mogilyov, Vitebsk)

To fill the information space there is a mass of programs (well, not mass, but a couple, but oh well ...), performing certain actions.

If we summarize, then all of them, as a result, after different manipulations, must transfer information to us, to Minsk, to a computing center.

Everything is good, but half of these programs are morally obsolete - well, they just do not meet modern conditions.

Our system "ARS" is designed precisely to correct this deficiency, of course, only in a certain vein (after all, it is impossible to select someone else’s bread).

The APC system collects information from the station and transmits it to small computer centers, let's say for local needs.

This is with regard to structural schemes.

Now a little about the functional composition.

the system itself is:

1) the resident program. Is at the station and tyrit necessary data

2) the program-questionnaire. Located in each office and receives data from the resident

3) Microsoft SQL server, where data is written and written to the station

4) Tomcat, on the basis of which there is a web application that reads the necessary information from the database tables

5) well, and a custom browser installed on any personal computer. It goes without saying - all access is strictly limited.

• ESPD - a single data network.

This is how it is.

On this task, sitting (development, maintenance) 2-3 people out of 500 in our center. By complexity and load takes about 1% of all existing tasks. That's why I started YOUR acquaintance with this system.
