Good afternoon, dear Habrovchane.
For quite a long time I was going to write a small overview of the use of such a convenient thing as the Blackbox window manager on the Asus EEE 1000 netbook.
So on Habré there were already many articles about how to increase the working area of the screen on netbooks. But mostly they dealt with editing the interfaces of various programs. At one point, I thought that the programs - programs, but the taskbar eats off indecent piece of the screen. Regular means managed to reduce it to a completely uncomfortable state. And I set off in search of a quick and lightweight MO instead of an explorer. Aston was rejected by me for the tight customizability of appearance and breech. A couple more, in addition to not being supported for a couple of years, refused to run on XP. And then I came across the bbLean project, which is also in a stasis state, a BB4WIN project brunch.
Actually, eight months have passed since that moment. Chenray box settled both on my netbook and on my wife's netbook, as well as on two computers at work, and the boss's laptop. The thing is simple and intuitive. All important and frequently used functions are placed (however, all that is necessary can be added) to the first drop-down menu.

')
As you can see, the quick launch bar and desktop shortcuts are now accessible from the context menus. The same with programs. I also brought the run command to this menu (win + R - you know very well if you just work with a mouse), a volume control, links to folders (Disk, and a temporary folder)
Also on the screenshot immediately visible, two plugins: bbnettraffic and bbsystraffic. As it is not difficult to guess, they show network activity and the state of the system, respectively.
Access to any part of the hard drive is also available from the context menus.

However, by double clicking on any folder, a familiar explorer window opens.
Also, any menu can be glued to the desktop, just pulled over the title and released.
The interface (as well as everything else) is configured both from gui, and direct editing of text configs. Those who lack the buttons right on the desktop are delivered with the bbInterface plugin.
In the screenshot below, there is a panel for controlling FUBAR and two buttons thrown in a hurry. One directly on the desktop, the second subsidiary for the frame. What would have been better seen switched to some of the built-in styles.

Any of these controls can be hung on top of all windows. By the way, using the bbLeanSkin plugin, any windows are also hung over all. Do you know very well, the serial from a notebook copy to the installer for example.
Also, the standard bbKeys plugin allows you to bind arbitrary key combinations to arbitrary actions.
For those who
like to improve everything, there is the possibility of adding their own functions to bro @ ms. To be honest, I haven’t wanted this opportunity yet, so for details I can only send via links.
Well, actually here. These are the main features of this thing: convenient, fast, practical, minimalist. And now links:
