Trying as much as I could to promote the idea of skypkasts in RuNet, I
wrote about them on Wikipedia, noted on the
forum skypeclub.ru, and so, looking at Habr, I read the
story of Artem Rosnovsky with great interest.
What does my own experience say, based on the management of two daily castes, open and closed?
First of all, I agree with the conclusion that Artem put in the first place. Skypekast requires tight control. It is necessary to cut off inadequate people who roam there in considerable quantities. Optimally, wait for a few of those who have entered and press the “transfer everyone to listeners” button, after which new participants will join the ranks of the listeners, not the speakers.
On the openness / closeness, I do not have the same unequivocal opinion. In principle, an open caste can also be made meaningful if one prepares in advance a list of “trusted comrades” and gives the floor only to them. Although, perhaps, when a certain circle has already been formed and there is no interest in expanding it, it is better to leave under the protection of privacy.
And finally, on the technical side. The service really throws out very strange numbers. For example, it does not allow the organizer to enter a caste, previously scheduled for a certain day and hour, although it regularly allows, if you register with the "start now" option. Sometimes the link to “join” does not work on the site, although, having isolated the phone itself from there and attributing it to some fictitious subscriber, it is quite possible to call and connect. My recipe for such cases is very simple: the caste is duplicated by a text chat with the organizer. If it is absolutely impossible to enter, the participants agree that someone else will start castes with the same name on their own behalf and gather there. Chat is convenient and in another sense - it allows you to speak in parallel with someone, without interrupting.
On this my considerations come to the end. I hope that, having gained more practical experience, we will return to the topic of skypastes.
