Here is my opinion about the functions that are in all editions more expensive than Home Premium:
The cost of windows 7 editions
Home Premium - $ 199
Professional - $ 299
Ultimate - $ 319
And now let's start comparing the
official table of differences from M $ :
Professional
So do we need to overpay $ 100 for
xp mode available in the Professional edition when the same box can provide us with the same thing for free? (let me remind you that xp mode is a special version of ms virtual pc that works “transparently” for the user, tobish without a desktop, only windows). I think it's not worth it. (after all, as we all know many things that people need (for example, directx) cannot work in full force in any virtual machine)
')
Ultimate
Microsoft says that windows 7 Ultimate contains as many as eight differences, but are they important to most people? At least three new functions (
BranchCache, Enterprise Search, DirectAccess ) are intended only for enterprise applications (and as far as I know are available in the enterprise version which will be used where these functions are needed). Other features of Ultimate -
support for 35 languages, BitLocker and AppLocker functions (the last two did not find fans in Vista). Finally - in the most expensive version of Windows 7, there is the
Virtual Desktop Interface and Virtual Hard Drive Booting (creating multiple boot copies of Windows). Does all this need a regular user? I think no.
upd: I didn’t expect me to be so zaminus, worse than leprosy: /upd2: well, at least a little pulled in the plus, thanks :)
