Chrome OS put an end to viruses?

One of the leading programmers at Google said that Chrome OS will put an end to viruses. The new "cloud" operating system will be the most important event for the information security of all mankind. Provided, of course, that people massively go to it. As you know, the output of Chrome OS is scheduled for mid-2010.

“We’re completely changing the underlying security of the operating system,” said Linus Upson, Google’s lead programmer, “so users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and downloading updates. Everything should just work. ”

It is clear what he means. If only the operating system loader is stored on the user's computer, and everything else is loaded from the Google cloud, then viruses simply have no place to live. It’s almost impossible for them to get into the bootloader. Live in RAM? Try to infiltrate Google? It is quite difficult. Although virus writers have probably already begun to look for vulnerabilities in the Chrome browser. Now there is little sense from these exploits, but in the future they can be useful.
