Does Google Chrome OS have competitors?

I think that everyone is aware of recent statements by Google about the development of its new OS integrated into the browser. Enough discussions have arisen around this news and the world community accepted this news ambiguously. The idea is not new, and on Habré reviews of some of the Web OS have appeared more than once. I want to mention the projects that seemed to me the most attractive:

However, the above projects require an installed operating system and a browser. However, Google Chrome OS promises independent management of computer resources, based on the linux kernel, and this should start in seconds. As it turned out, Google took up the implementation of this great idea is not the first.

My attention has long been attracted to the gOS (good OS) distribution based on Ubuntu. However, their logo always gave me no peace:

So I want to confuse good OS and google OS. And the default gOS desktop is crammed with google gadgets. Various screenshots can be viewed here .

On December 1, 2008, Good OS LLC announced the launch of the development of a Cloud system that is directly compatible with netbooks, mobile Internet devices and personal computers.

The system will have tight integration with Google, Yahoo! and live. It can also be run in a browser in any operating system. While the system is available as pre-installed on the GIGABYTE M912 touch screen or for beta testing, you can proceed to which you can leave a request . My application remained unanswered.
If you trust the screenshot, then we can assume that the Cloud uses a chromium-like browser. And a Mac style shortcut bar. Perhaps Cloud will be a prototype of Google Chrome OS or at least its distant relative. And it is also possible to state that the theme (.) (.) Of the first Google Chrome OS screenshots is revealed =)

And here is another self-promising Internet OS .
Meet Jolicloud .

Other screenshots look here or here .
Debian and Ubuntu 9.04 are used as the basis of the operating system. For integration with web applications used Mozilla Prism. Currently, netbook support from the following manufacturers is announced: Acer, ASUS, Compaq, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI, Samsung. (I would like to add that the main distributions provide sufficient compatibility only with Aspire ONE or Eee PC, even such trendy as Ubuntu Netbook Remix or Moblin. For example, my Samsung nc10 required quite abundant handicraft for sure work.)
Jolicloud is trying to combine the concept of a fast, small and minimalistic linux distribution for netbooks, and a full-fledged Internet OS. You can choose from the installation of both applications based on web technologies and linux native applications, as well as wine to run windows applications. And at the level of the user interface between them there is no difference. Various developer solutions can be found on their blog . On the available screenshots, a text editor and a graphic editor seemed very interesting to me.
As part of venture financing, this project received $ 4.2 million. But in the broad masses, little is known about it. I think this is due to the fact that it is in an early stage of development. For those who want to test the system, you can leave your e-mail here and wait for the invitation. I did not wait for an invitation)
It seems to me that in the Internet OS market Jolicloud sets a decent level, and I hope this project will surprise us more than once. It is also interesting to see what competition the google operating system will be able to make in this narrow niche of specialization.

UPD Those wishing to test Jolicloud without waiting for an invitation here .

UPD2 Transferred to the blog Operating Systems.

UPD3 Dear minus! Please write in the comments what you did not like. I will definitely correct the mistakes and take into account your wishes in the future.

PS I post the topic not on my own behalf, but on behalf of a friend rma4ok@gmail.com. Because for UFOs for known reasons, he does not have the opportunity to write on a habr =) We will try to make an invite.
