So the article could be called about the problem that arose as a result of the imposition of errors by the developers of the interface of the mobile phone Nokia 5800 (and maybe not only?) And the IVR rescue service. Description of the problem under the cut.


Some time ago I had to call the emergency service for the first time, for all the time I used a mobile phone. Or rather, in a single dispatch service (fire, police, ambulance). The good reason was, though unpleasant, but still not vital.

I typed 112, pressed the call button. The robot began to tell me in a pleasant female voice what I need to click in order to contact the service I need. After listening to the message, I pressed the Dialler button on the touchscreen of my phone and oha huff off! Below in the photo you can see that the keyboard with numbers has appeared, but you cannot type anything on it because she is inactive.



This happens (as it seems to me) because the telephone “thinks” that it has not been answered from the other side and the call continues. The developers of the IVR rescue service also tried: the voice message is spinning endlessly and there is no automatic call forwarding to the live operator. I’m not even talking about the fact that no one will call you back (as is the case with American films), if you didn’t manage to get into the necessary service yourself.

What if tomorrow the war?

Of course, I could not leave it all so. The next day, after 5 minutes of active pressure on all the controls of my device, I managed to get through to the numeric keypad and get through to the operator. But it was the next day, in a relaxed atmosphere. Yes, and I, to conceal ;-), not the average user in this case. I approach the technique by virtue of education and in general. And if it was your mom? And if she called an ambulance?
