Recently, Acer has released a new firmware for the SSD of this netbook. As you know, this drive has extremely low speed, and the updated firmware is designed to improve the situation.
Since I have a netbook of such a model, I immediately decided to check the new firmware in action.
No, we will not disassemble anything today. Everything is very simple.
')
Attention! The firmware only works for Samsung SSD. Before you begin, make sure that your drive is installed in your Aspire One A110.
In addition, the data on the SSD-drive after the firmware
will be lost . Save!
So, first you need to prepare. We will need the following components:
1. Acer Aspire One A110 netbook with Samsung SSD.
2. Preferably a computer with Windows installed (in my case, under VirtualBox).
3. USB flash drive.
4.
Utility from Acer to create a boot disk.
5.
HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool , if necessary.
AOA110SSDFWv1.exe is used to prepare the flash drive, however, in my case it was not enough, and I had to ask for help from an HP utility that can create a bootable flash drive.
Well. Boot from the flash drive.
Click 0, since the firmware version is newer than the old one. Without erasing - no way.
0 again.
Well, here there is no other choice :)
I have 8GB SSD. Shake that suits.
In the main window of the update program, press
Enter and wait for the cherished green "
PASS " to appear (I, however, had “FAIL”, but decided to re-scan by pressing the “
D ” button).
After flashing and restoring my Linux, I noticed that Firefox did start up much faster.
And the output "
hdparm -it / dev / sda " tells me about
40MB / sec .
In general, the system began to run much faster. Waiting for Windows users to test in popular HD Tune and CrystalDiskMark.
