Subtleties of Chinese web design, part 1: colors and colors

The Chinese Internet is the largest domain of the network, with a very peculiar, original and even self-sufficient one can say. I came to China relatively recently, and are just starting to get acquainted with their inner web-designer culture, but have already made several observations that, perhaps, will be simply interesting for someone, and will allow someone to look at familiar things from the other side.

I would like to begin with one of the first features that catches my eye: color coding of information.

At the local business channel, an analogue of our RBC, I was, in the beginning, confused by the creeping line with stock quotes. The downward triangle was colored green. And the association “red - stand, green - go” is so strongly conscious that I had thought that in this direction they signify growth. And yet, the red color in China is the color of happiness, prosperity and everything else good. Green got the role of associative antonym, they denote all sorts of falls.

In website design, color coding is preserved. But new, unexpected elements are added. The Chinese love everything bright, catchy, coarse. For example, you can compare a piece of the interface of the famous American online auction site ebay.com and the most popular Chinese taobao.com.

This shows positive and negative feedback about the seller / buyer in the West:
