After a short delay , the CrunchBang Linux distribution came on 9.04.01, which distinguishes the use of the Openbox window manager from others. As the version number suggests, the distribution is based on Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope. Like all previous releases, 04/04/01 was built from scratch from Ubuntu MinimalCD. Work on the build was completed July 6, 2009, the images contain all the security updates and the latest packages available at the time. The main difference from Ubuntu is the minimalistic interface and window manager of Openbox.
What's new?
For the first time, CrunchBang is compiled for 64-bit systems. The addition of the amd64 version played a significant role in the delayed release, although the result was worth the time spent on development. Of the other notable changes associated with the transition to the new version of Ubuntu, we can note the following:
Significantly reduced system boot time
Improved support for wireless networks
Ext4 file system support added
