Hello% username%!
I recently passed the last session here (perfectly), and decided to make myself a small gift. Namely update the home server. The idea is to use a mat. motherboard based on the Intel Atom has been spinning for a long time. And now there is just a ālullā before the Diploma ...
Well, let's start perhaps. (Pictures are clickable)
1. Motherboard:
')
Foxconn 45CSX.
Brief har-ki:
Supported processors: IntelĀ® AtomTM dual-core 330 processor mounted onboard
Chipset: IntelĀ® 945GC + ICH7
Memory: DDR2 533 MHz x 1 DIMM, Max. 2GB
Graphics: Integrated
Expansion Slots: 1 * PCI
IDE / ATA support: 2 * SATA II
Sound: 5.1 channel HDA by RealtekĀ® ALC662
LAN: 10 / 100M LAN by RealtekĀ® RTL8100C
USB: Up to 6: 4 on the back + 2 ports per shoe
Form factor: Mini-ITX (170mm x 170mm)
Why I chose this because this is the absence of coolers initially, and the absence of an additional 4-pin supply. Well, I took the case of the same company, and decided that it would be better to take everything from the same company :)
2. Case:
Foxconn RS 338
Brief har-ki:
Form Factor: MiniITX
Power supply: 100-150W (Replaced, on the fanless photo below. Reason: the noise is this: (()
External compartments 5.25 ā³: 1
External compartments 3,5 ā³: 1
Internal compartments of 3.5 ā³: 1 (here Iām slightly thoughtfully fit into the standard hole of hard, but when installing the "carriage" (see photo below) it rests against the power supply)
Front USB 2.0 ports: 2
Front panel audio jack: 1
Front panel microphone jack: 1
Fan: 1 x 80mm (Disarmed)
Dimensions (H x W x H), mm: 280x282x95 (7.5 L)
More photos:

Just unpacked :)

Back view

Inner space (Down put hard, which simply rests on the power supply)

"Carriage" for installing 3.5 "and 5.25" devices (view from the side of the motherboard, power supply ... in short, the rear view :)

Without removing the muzzle, do not get to the installation of the motherboard. The ācarriageā is removed by unscrewing the 2 screws at the edges. The muzzle rests on the silver tabs, clicked first from the top, and black from the bottom.
3. HDD.
Samsung HD154UI
Brief har-ki:
Capacity: 1.5 TB
Interface: Serial ATA 3.0Gb / with NCQ support
Number of plates: 3
Record Capacity: 500 GB
Buffer: 32 MB
Now the thrill of work. When you boot the OS, you can "hear" how it works, when it is almost silent (the torrent works, the distribution goes almost continuously).
I had to do this with hard (install it in the 5.25 "compartment):

But this was fixed by installing another bp (the photo will be at the end).
4. Memory:

Memory 2 GB :) The only thing I could find is a die from Samsung.
5. BP:

I put this miracle on 120W without coolers. No noise: D
Total:
Total we have a good machine for a home server (and a great toy for the geek) for a reasonable amount of money. All together it was bought for 9 thousand rubles (bp was) (of which hard took 4500 money). Plus, I delivered a low profile PCI gigabit network, this action helped to overcome the psychological barrier (there is a hundred megabit network card on the motherboard) and for me the system has become almost perfect.

Purpose:
Home NAS, torrent rocking chair, dc server (24/7), ftp server, web server.
If the topic is interesting I will describe my choice of OS, why, and how everything turned out in the end. At the moment, almost everything is already configured, except for the web server, since I decided to study other products (I used to work only with Apache) ...
Lastly, install the OS :)

PS Mistakes \ errors please send in private, THANKS!
UPD. Transferred to the thematic blog.
UPD2. Changed the photo of the case.
Temperature addition :
The server (so far) is on the shelf with a minimum of space both above and nearby. Ventilation is bad. Measurement temperature program
SpeedFan and multimeter (temperature probe pushed into the vent hole) :)
Results:
1. Multimeter
The temperature inside the case (2 hours of operation) is kept at 27-29 C

2. SpeedFan
HDD (2 hours of distribution, download torrents, FTP, files drove there and there) - 29-32 C
CPU - 59-62 C
