From myself I would add that, in principle, this was to be expected in view of the lack of progress in the development of XHTML2. In fact, the very development of XHTML has stumbled, in my opinion, in IE6, which never allowed the standard to unfold in a big way. And this, and the need to eliminate backward compatibility in XHTML, is a great undertaking.
It remains to rejoice at the fact that from now on we will all live according to a single charter and the eternal topic “XHTML vs. HTML is closed.
