Since our company is not only promoting websites and advertising on the Internet, but also creating wonderful websites, we decided to conduct a study on what exactly and how Internet users use. Having collected data on Russia, we decided not to stop and collect the same data on the Internet users of Ukraine.
Data for April 2009. Liveinternet, Bigmir and Ranking.com.ua were used.

Russia The first place to use is Internet Explorer 7. In principle, the result, looking at the most popular resolution (more on this below), the most popular OS and what it is connected with, is quite predictable. Next comes Opera 9. *, Firefox 3 is very close to it, then Internet Explorer 6 (well, people don’t want to be updated!).
What happens:
')
1. If you add up all versions of Internet Explorer, it turns out 46.8% - almost half of all people.
2. If you add up all the versions of Firefox, you get 21.2% - just a little more than Opera (20.8% in total).
3. Almost all Opera users have updated from the eighth version to the ninth. There are even a number of people using the tenth version!
4. However, how fast is the mobile Internet! Opera Mini - 7% of the total number of browsers! It's time for site owners to think seriously about mobile versions.
Ukraine Unexpectedly (as for me), Opera 9 is the leader! Internet Explorer 7 - the second place, the reasons, in principle, all the same as in Russia. Again, a little inferior to Firefox 3. Again, many people don’t want to update their Internet Explorer 6.
What happens:
1. Whether Bigmir simply does not know how to determine Opera Mini (after all, almost 6% of the unrecognized), or in Ukraine everything is so bad with the mobile Internet, but there is no data on this browser in Bigmir statistics. Another source of statistics (ranking.com.ua) shows that Opera Mini is 0.4%, so, you see, in Ukraine everything is really bad with mobile Internet.
2. If you add up all the versions of Firefox, you get 24.3% - more than in Russia.
3. If you add up all versions of Internet Explorer, then it turns out 41.9% - a little less than in Russia, but still quite a significant part.
4. There are 1% of people continuing to use the eighth version of Opera.

Russia In the first place are still traditionally CRT monitors. LCD monitors almost came close to them, more than 15% of laptops, all the same 7% of mobile Internet are visible. Delight almost 10% of monitors wide screen.
Ukraine The situation almost completely repeats Russia, except that:
1. LCD monitors almost caught up with CRT monitors.
2. There is no resolution, traditional for the mobile Internet. Yes, it turns out that the mobile Internet in Ukraine is not yet developed.
Conclusions .
A normal site is a site that:
1. Correctly displayed in browsers: Opera 9, Internet Explorer (6, 7, 8), Firefox 3.
2. Has a mobile version (for Russia).
3. It is designed for a minimum resolution of 1024 × 768, and at the same time it looks normal in all resolutions, more than this.
