In the nineties, "bloomers" were constantly discussed as a sure way to make money on the Internet "with their own mind." Many students and schoolchildren made their first programs on their knees and tried to publish them in software catalogs. I started practicing “bloomers” from the first course (autumn of 1998), without losing hope of ever making a successful product.
Once, having created stable versions of my programs, I published them where I could. The result was an interesting picture - the program was constantly downloaded, all new people visited my personal page, but no one bought anything.
Out of hopelessness, I decided to experiment - approximately build the demand function for my program. Decisively increasing the percentage of discounts and thereby reducing the price of the program, I did not see continuity in the schedule.
At the “freebies” point, a feature was observed - a huge number of “buyers” would download the program for free, but none of them would pay a penny even for a more advanced product of mine.

Above it was only about Russia. Abroad, I managed to sell java applets for $ 12 each.
Conclusion: in Russia there is a specific market, customers and users, the keyword for which is “HALYAVA”!
