New project "Calendar of events" - we ask critics
A few hours ago, at www.calend.ru, a new website, the “Calendar of Events”, was launched. It could be called an update of the “Holiday Calendar”, which is located earlier at the same address, if the additions and corrections made did not change the project almost completely. That is, it is more correct to say that a new site was made, and the old project was absorbed by it, becoming its (not the largest) part.
Our task was to seriously expand the content, introduce user functions and make a modern, interesting for a wide audience daily informative magazine with a story about holidays, days of cities, dates of birthdays, dates of life of famous people and historical personalities and all other significant events, mention of which relevant and interesting in relation to today.
The main thing that was done:
1. Taking as a basis the database on holidays of different countries that we created earlier, we decided to significantly expand the information part and added thousands of articles on cities days, significant events, birthdays and deaths of historical figures to holidays and dates.
2. We have introduced the functionality of the "personal calendar". Registered users can combine their event lists, both from what is on the site and by adding to them personal events such as the birthday of their beloved grandmother.
3. A kind of “bridge” from editorial articles about events to users' personal calendars are those comments, photos and videos to events that were added by users to the site in open form. These comments are summarized in ribbons and form a kind of collective blog of the event - a holiday, a city day, a name day, etc ...
