While Golden Telecom and Synterra are deploying their wireless networks in Moscow, in the capital of Mexico, Mexico City, newly elected mayor Marcelo Ebrard promised to provide the entire population of the city (about 8.7 million people) with free internet without wires.
An agreement has already been signed with the Chinese company ZTE , which will develop the system. In the next few months, the project should bear fruit. Ebrard points out that the wireless network will reach the outskirts of Mexico very quickly, and not “stuck” in the center, as is usually the case.
