Retro: Review of the 1996 AcerNote Light 370DX laptop

In 1996 he acquired the production line of the notorious Texas Instruments. The company Texas Instruments at the time, in addition to various chips, produced a series of laptops Travel Mate and Extensa, which later went to Acer.

Right: battery cover, cd-drive and power button.
The drive has some difference from the modern ones - when you press the eject button, the drive opens, regardless of whether the laptop is turned on or not.
Software “ejecting” the disk, at least in Windiws 98, does not work.
We can see from the back: a power supply connector, under a rubber plug - a connector for an external floppy, microphone input, line input and line output
further (under the missing cover) - serial com-port, parallel LPT-port, output to an external D-sub monitor and PS / 2 port for a mouse and keyboard.
Above the com and lpt ports you can see the grille, behind which there is a small fan. It turns on very rarely, which makes the laptop quiet. Noise is heard only from the hard disk and cd-drive, if there is inserted a disk.
And finally, on the left: two pcmcia slots for various devices (for example, a modem or a network card).
This laptop has only one indicator that shows the inclusion and charging of the battery.
The indicator is duplicated on both sides, so even with the laptop lid closed, it is possible to determine if it is on.
Turning the laptop over, you can see a sticker with a marking on which you can see the production date: 961105
If you unscrew 1 screw and remove the cover from the RAM compartment, you can see 1 16 MB memory bar
Let's see what's inside:
by sliding the 2 covers to the sides covering the speakers, you can remove the keyboard. Under which is visible a large aluminum plate that serves as a radiator for cooling the processor.
Turn off the 2 screws and get to the processor.
In this model, an Intel Pentium 120 MHz processor with a 66 MHz system bus frequency is installed in the SPGA socket 7 package.
The hard disk is shielded by a metal box with a 2.5 "Hitachi disk inside.
