Microsoft will find educational institutions resell licenses for software

Microsoft representatives today announced the launch of a large-scale campaign to combat educational institutions that resell software purchased under academic licenses to commercial users.

Recall that the academic licenses of the software giant are about 50% cheaper than commercial ones, however, only official educational institutions — schools, universities, vocational schools, etc. — can obtain software under these licenses.

Microsoft notes that today, in the United States alone, about fifty-fifty lawsuits have been filed against schools that resell software. According to the press service of the company, in the near future similar actions will begin in other countries.

Microsoft says that many online stores have established a business with millions of turns on the resale of software.

It is known that the first lawsuit was filed for $ 1 million against the online store EDirectSoftware.com. The company began sending warning letters to other vendors.
