Nokia will teach self-charging devices

image At the moment, Palm devices are at the top of technology for wirelessly charging their devices. However, a certain level of physical contact is still required between the induction docking station and the device. Such a limitation in the technology of charging was until this year.

As it became known , the research center Nokia (Cambridge, UK) is developing, as they hope, what will be the future of mobile charging: recharging from the environment. No, this is not a charger with a built-in prayer wheel of Tibetan monks, but a technique for using the energy of electromagnetic radiation in the environment.

The source of these emissions can be the antenna of nearby devices, even the antenna of the mobile phone itself, the base station transmitter, a Wi-Fi access point, and so on. In addition, if you leave the phone in a place where there is significant radio traffic (for example, near a Wi-Fi base station), this can generate a sufficient level to quickly recharge the phone battery.

Researchers at Nokia, engaged in the development of nanomaterials for this technology, have so far achieved charging capacity in the region of 3-5 milliwatts, although they plan to bring this value to 50 milliwatts, which is considered to be enough to exceed the charge level above the discharge level in the standby mode.

This is a difficult task, and it may still be impossible to solve. But if it works, it will mean that the chargers will become history.

UPD. It is clear that no one has canceled the dependence of the signal power on the square of the distance, and there is clearly a need for additional engineering and technical tricks and breakthroughs in science and technology (or, in addition, KERS will also implement transparent solar panels, Pelte elements and piezo-buttons for recharging from muscular strength), but I'm not losing optimism. Charging tired of everyone :)
