Sony BMG offers novice musicians to become bloggers

The second largest record company in the world - Sony BMG announced that, starting this week, it does not accept demo versions of music on cassettes, discs and other similar media. Instead, musicians are invited to write about their creations in blogs at www.columbiademos.co.uk or www.rcademos.co.uk (using the Vox platform from Six Apart ), posting music and photos in the same place.

“Blogging is one of the major trends in the music industry,” says Gad Doetree, head of the British division of Sony BMG. - “There are hundreds of thousands of blogs in the world every day, the blogosphere doubles every 230 days - and leading labels must take this trend into account when interacting with musicians in a new way.”

Sony BMG competitors are not asleep. Label Universal Music, owned by the French company Vivendi, has already launched an online store of classical and jazz music, which has a section for beginner musicians who can put their compositions in it.
