Company director Eric Schmidt
said in an interview with Fox that his company began searching for small firms with unique technologies and wants to buy them in order to “improve its technology portfolio.”
Schmidt said that over the next year, Google’s interests include distributed computing, mobile technologies and Open Source software delivery technologies.
Google has already conducted a market analysis and investigated a number of large firms that have the necessary development, but for some reason, Google didn’t like these technologies. So now they have switched to searching among small startups.

Google Shopping is technological in nature, Schmidt said. They do not particularly look at the structure of the company and the names of the managers, but specifically consider the technological product they need, and then they estimate how much it will cost to create a similar technology on their own. In many cases, it is more profitable to buy ready-made.
