Western Digital's My Book external hard drive lineup has a new,
4-terabyte model . My Book Studio Edition II, called WDH2Q40000, is two 3.5-inch hard drives combined into a RAID 0 array. It works, according to WD, on both PCs and Macs. In advance, however, the disk is formatted for Mac. Software tools and instructions for reformatting under Windows are attached.

3.5-inch drives are WD GreenPower, which are characterized by low heat generation and consume, according to the developers, 30% less electricity compared to competitors. Accordingly, the WDH2Q40000 does not need a fan. So it is quiet.
The device is equipped with a fill indicator, it supports automatic power on and off with the computer. In addition, it provides for the presence of a “system” Safe Shutdown, which prevents de-energizing during data recording. It connects with a computer via FireWire 800, FireWire 400, eSATA and USB 2.0.

Another good thing: to upgrade the device it does not need to disassemble. Just open the cover and change the discs.
