Schoolchildren sued anti-plagiarist site

Two students of McLean High School High School (Virginia, USA) sued Turnitin Californian company, accusing it of copyright infringement.

Turnitin's online service is what compares control (or coursework) works or essays with those already available in the database and gives a verdict whether the student used his brain or simply whistled someone else's work. Each new work is also recorded in the database.

The suit was joined by two students from Arizona. According to the school’s lawyer, the plaintiffs (whose names are not named), Turnitin’s problem is that the service archives all incoming documents, while students should have full control over their work, which is their personal property.
