Mozilla sues Microsoft for patent infringement on tabs
According to the German website heise.de , the Mozilla Foundation sued Microsoft for using the tabbed interface in Internet Explorer 7. The Mozilla Foundation owns the patent 5,160,296 , obtained by one of the Mozilla developers (Solomon Katz, a former Opera developer) and started a lawsuit against Microsoft in Mountainview, California. Mozilla is asking MS to immediately stop spreading IE 7 and dismiss 1.4 billion dollars in compensation. The Heise website reports that Microsoft has not yet made an official statement, but is evaluating the possibility of releasing a version of IE 7 NT (no tabs).
