Mail.Ru portal has planned an unusual advertising campaign: the red tax, symbolizing the company, will be sent to the International Space Station (ISS) as the first animal tourist in space. The action is scheduled for April 2010.
The total duration of the flight will be ten days. The flight to the International Space Station and return to Earth on the Soyuz spacecraft will take about two days, and the shaggy space tourist will spend eight more days in orbit.
The future astronaut does not yet exist: the optimum age of an animal for a flight into space is one and a half years, so the birth of a traveler is expected only in the autumn of 2008. Growing a puppy, as well as its pre-flight training, will be handled by the nursery trainers in conjunction with representatives of the Center for the Training of Cosmonauts. Gagarin, already having experience of preparing for the flight, not only people but also animals. The nickname for the astronaut dog is also pre-selected: most likely, it will receive the name “Soap”.
