Net profit of Opera Software in I quarter 2009 amounted to 2.8 million Euros

This morning, Opera Software announced financial results for the first quarter of 2009. Despite the crisis and the widespread decline in revenues of IT companies, the company remains profitable and continues to reinvest funds in new projects. This year, several products will be launched at once, including Opera Mobile 9.7 for Windows Mobile, the desktop browser Opera 10, as well as some very interesting and fundamentally new technologies in the browser market, which we will discuss shortly.

The main financial results for the first quarter of 2009:
* Income: NOK 163 million (EUR 18.52 million) is 59% more than in Q1-2008
* Profit (EBIT): 24.9 million NOK (2.83 million EUR) is 61% more than in Q1-2008

* Revenue for Opera Desktop: 47 million NOK (5,34 million EUR), + 103% compared with Q1-2008
* Income of Internet Devices: 116 million NOK (13.18 million EUR), + 46% compared with Q1-2008

Opera Desktop is a trend earning on search queries, as well as affiliate programs with major portals.

Opera Internet Devices is the direction associated with mobile phones, other devices for accessing the Web, browsing browsers, consulting and server hosting.

- The number of sold mobile phones with Opera Mobile browser pre-installed: 7 million
- The number of new models of phones with Opera Mobile pre-installed browser: 7
- The number of new models of phones with Opera Mini pre-installed browser: 56
- Total number of phone models with Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browsers since the beginning of the year: 63 (2008 - 197, 2007 - 113)
- Number of unique Opera Mini users in April 2009: 23.4 million
