Last Sunday, we managed to visit an unusual event by Russian standards - TEDx Moscow 2009.
“TEDxMoscow, Russia's first TED-style conference. Ten lecturers told in four hours about ten decent ideas. ”- This is a quote from the
office. site . In fact, there were 11 lecturers and the conference lasted about 5.5 hours. But with lunch :)
One of the chips of the conference - time limit of the speech - 18 minutes. This format allows you to maintain excellent dynamics and makes the speakers very thoughtful approach to the preparation of their reports.

')
What you liked.Organization. Everything was fast, without pauses, without lazhi with microphones, presentations and other technical requirements. Who ever arranged something like this understands the importance of these things.
The diversity of both speakers and topics covered by them: from hierarchical structures in linguistics and graphic information recognition technologies to the anthropological foundations of merketing and flash mobs.
Comfortable armchairs-pears in the common room.
What did not like.Volodarsky’s incoherent and too generalized statement, announced as the star of the conference (at least in the handouts his photo was the first).
And, I wish, everything.
The motto of the conference - "Ideas worthy of distribution." So about the ideas. From the totality of all the speeches, I formulated two brief theses that have passed through the red line through many reports. In my presentation, they may seem obvious, I will nevertheless express it, and let it be an additional incentive for you to familiarize yourself with the conference materials :) So:
1. A person sees only a small part of the picture surrounding him. The rest of it completes due to the desired, or subconsciously created images. This applies directly to the view, and everyday life, and global views of the world. There are too many black spots around, and we are not physically able to analyze and evaluate all of them.
2. In place of individualism comes the era of a new type of society, a less divided, collective. I will cite as an example: crowdsourcing, flash mobs, social networks, open-source and freeware products. On the one hand, a modern, developing open society strengthens competition, on the other hand, gives a person more room for self-realization and a search for his interests and his field of activity. And this second circumstance gives an impetus for greater interaction of people with each other, joint cognition and development.
In general, thanks to the organizers and participants. I hope for the further development of the project.
Video from the conference will be posted here:
