Avatar Machine is a device, and by and large - an experiment that allows you to look at yourself as a third-person character in a game! The device name comes from Avatar in computer games and virtual environments, where the avatar is a digital representation of a real person.
The idea belongs to the designer, Englishman Mark Owens (Mark Owens). The bottom line is to transmit a picture with a camera attached behind the back to a small monitor located in front of a person’s eyes. Thus, a person in real-time sees himself from the back and at a distance of about one and a half meters. The world is perceived as an incredibly realistic game in which you are a character and a third-person player!
Description of the brand itself:
"This is a virtual community".It is a system that allows you to view it.It is a system that is reserved for the gaming environment. ”
Mark says his invention was inspired by the MMORPG World of Warcraft! Another impetus for Mark's invention was his interest in human behavior in the gaming environment. In principle, it was possible to limit oneself to simply fixing on the body all that will allow achieving the out-of-body effect, but Mark went further and created a full costume imitating the hero from a computer game. He wanted to see whether people would behave differently if they observed themselves in real life, as a character, in a game from a third person. Tests were conducted in several places, including in London's Hyde Park. Mark noted that people are less likely to have a sense of social responsibility when wearing Avatar Machine. Some began to move like characters in WoW — they took big steps and waved their arms enthusiastically, confusing people passing by. Mark believes that users can also experience a feeling of invincibility when viewing themselves from a third person - therefore, they often bullied against other people. (aurora: After the first viewing, I myself had a desire to flinch, if I were in Mark's place. This is also clearly seen in the behavior of Mark himself in Tokyo =)) ')
