The authorities of six German lands banned the sale of the energy drink Red Bull, because they
found traces of cocaine in the amount of 0.4 micrograms per liter (that is, 1 gram of cocaine per 2.5 million liters of the drink). Of course, such a minimum amount can not only be addictive, but even deliver any appreciable pleasure. Doctors guarantee that this amount can not cause any harm to health, but the sale is still banned, because under German law it is forbidden to sell products containing drugs.
As is known, caffeine, also addictive, is added to the Coca-Cola for an invigorating effect (and, by the way, prohibited in sports as doping). Cocaine was added there before, but
since 1903 it was withdrawn from the recipe . In the so-called "energy cocktails" is used not only caffeine, but taurine and other highly active, but not prohibited substances.
The beverage maker Red Bull commented that he was making a drink from coca leaves and that cocaine does not remain in the finished product. The same sheets of coca are used in many drinks of different companies.
