For the first time this phenomenon was thoroughly described in the 1944th year by the American zoophysiologist Theodore Shnereyle, who gave him the name death mill, since the ants continue their run until they drop dead and the carousel of death continues to rotate until the participants are completely exhausted, leaving behind them the hordes of dead ants.
