Parable about the country of traditions

“Long ago, in one country, people expelled their king and decided to abandon their old traditions. But over time, these residents realized that because of this, their country had lost its identity. Therefore, they began to constantly invent completely new traditions, deciding whether or not to leave them by the reaction of newcomers.

If a stranger met with great fanfare did not take part in “traditional” ceremonies, then this tradition was swept away and replaced by a new one. So in the country the people, without even noticing it, followed the tradition of creating new traditions, no matter how strange it looked. ”
