I have repeatedly noticed that habra users are interested in music software for nix-systems. Since they are usually interested in commenting on topics, they receive answers in the same place. Later, it was not easy to find any information in the comments, so it was decided to describe the best, in my opinion, programs in a separate article.

Audacity.

Audacity is a free, easy-to-use sound editor for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU / Linux and other operating systems. Audacity can be used for:
* sound recording;
* digitizing analog recordings (tapes, records);
* edit files in Ogg Vorbis, MP3 and WAV;
* physical editing of multiple files (cut, paste, mix);
* changes in the speed and pitch of the recording;
* much more! Check out the full list of features.

Audacity is a pretty good audio editing program distributed under the
GPL license - that is for nothing :)
At first glance, Audacity may seem like a stupid thing, but it’s far from it. Of course, paid professional wonder editors are far away for her, but for beginners it’s the most. If you need to "cut" or "glue" several audio files, digitize a tape or record something live, Audacity is ideal for this.
At the moment, the stable-version 1.2.6, available under Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
You can download it here .

Audacityteam.org is an extensive wiki library, though in English.
Ardour.

Ardour is a digital audio workstation for recording, editing, and mixing multi-track audio, designed to meet the needs of professional users. Multichannel recording, the possibility of endless undo of actions, full automation support, a powerful mixer, an infinite number of tracks, tires and effects, asynchronous export, the ability to link audio areas to bars / beats / ticks, an editor for hot keys - by chunks, functions of stretching in time, changing the tone and dividing tracks into areas (recognition of strokes).
Ardour uses the Jack sound server, LADSPA plug-ins, if desired, you can build Ardour with support for VST and LV2 plug-ins.
Unfortunately (and perhaps fortunately) Ardour does not have plug-ins built in, but leaves it possible to build your own set of plug-ins such as: caps cmt fil-plugins mcp-plugins swh-plugins tap-plugins vcf-plugins their latest versions are easily found on the Internet).
Ardour can be downloaded under OS X Intel (MacBook, Mini, iMac), OS X PPC (PowerMac, PowerBook, G4 / G5) and Linux on the
official website .
LMMS.

I will not describe LMMS, on Habré there is already a good article about him -
We write music in Linux: LMMS .

MIXXX.

And now a surprise - DJ software under Linux! I myself unfortunately do not do DJing, but according to reviews the program is very good. You can get MIXXX for Mac, Windows and Linux on the
