Engineers from the University of Oslo have created an
evolutionary computer that changes its configuration using genetic algorithms. Like animals in the real world, a computer needs 20-30 thousand generations and mutations to adapt a design to solve a new problem. However, here the process takes not millions of years, but only a few seconds.
According to researchers, such a PC can make a breakthrough in the creation of AI. Indeed, earlier only software could evolve, but not equipment, which limited the potential of the entire system. Now this restriction is removed.
Now the Norwegian researchers have begun to produce a commercial model of the robot, which could change its configuration in the process, self-study and solve new problems for themselves without human intervention.
