Forest Office Selgas Cano
Where to take inspiration to the architect, if not in nature, filled with a variety of smells, colors, shapes, moods? The grandiose landscapes of the urban environment with the daily adrenaline injections received here are not capable of being an equivalent substitute for the measured flow of natural time surrounded by living trees and bird voices. And if they are capable, it is far from being for everyone.
Architectural bureau Selgas Cano located its office in the forest, not far from Madrid. Spanish architects have decided that for a harmonious introduction of the building into the natural landscape, a building construction of an elongated streamlined shape, half indented into the ground (the traditional way of improving thermal insulation) is suitable.
The longitudinal half of this “pipe” is made of transparent plastic, which provides the office space with natural light and an excellent overview of the surrounding plant splendor. At the interior design natural shades of yellow and green were chosen, combined with the natural range outside the window. To the technical difficulties of the designers attributed the laying of communications, which, as a result, it was decided to hold a shallow underground, as well as heating and sewage.
