How-to`s - One Thunderbird for Two OS

I wanted to share advice if someone still does not know how to use one of the same mail database on two operating systems. I have Ubuntu 9.04 and Windows XP, and the mail has been a stumbling block for a long time, I cannot go to Linux only, but I still want to use it fully functional. As a result, it was decided to abandon The Bat! towards multiplatform Thunderbird. But this is also not enough, you need to make it work with the same box from under both systems. For this we need:
Mozilla Thunderbird installed on both systems of the same version.
Third-party disk partition that is visible from both Linux and the "Windows".
If this is not the case, you can use the section where Windows is installed (not the best option)

So, let's say we already have Thunderbird with customized box (s) in XP. In linux
go to the section with Windows in the folder C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Application Data \ Thunderbird \ Profiles there we see a folder of the form xxxxxxx.default. Copy it to the third section in a convenient folder. In the same place, in the folder C: \ Documents and Settings \ user \ Application Data \ Thunderbird in the profiles.ini file, changing the value of IsRelative to 0, we get:
IsRelative = 0
in the Path parameter we enter the path where we copied the base, for example, I
Path = f: \ TBdaten \ mdt8v2k2.default
similarly we do in Linux, there profiles.ini is in / home / user / .mozilla-thunderbird. Change IsRelative to 0 and Path to the corresponding. I have
Path = / media / daten / TBdaten / mdt8v2k2.default

Actually everything

I thought that someone could come in handy, so I posted it, honestly copied from welinux.ru
