Classic design with preserving Aero features

Windows Vista default styling is quite beautiful and convenient. But, unfortunately, not for everyone. For quite a long time, I used it because there was no alternative offered - you can only turn on Aero Basic, which is an Aero with a number of disabled visual effects (and therefore looking very dull) and “Classic”. Classic - design, familiar to everyone since the days of Windows 95. Strict lines, gray colors, minimalist design. In general, what you need. With one exception - when you turn on the Classic theme, all Aero visual effects are turned off completely. Someone is only on hand, but in an hour or two I had to urgently turn back the disgusted Aero. Windows Blinds works with a number of applications I use (for example, with FireFox) clumsily and sometimes frankly.

It was like this for quite a while, until I accidentally stumbled upon the possibility of using different themes for Vista - however, this process is not as simple as on XP, and requires changes to the system files. But this is not a problem - good people have already written a bunch of utilities that do it. I used a Code Gazer utility called Vista Glazz . But the next step was to install a third-party theme called Vista Classic . Voila - and we get Vista with a classic design, while retaining all the features of Aero!

It should be noted here that by default Vista Classic changes fonts to different ones used in Aero. After working with them a couple of weeks, I still got into the settings and put out those that were originally there. To do this, open the “Control Panel” - “Appearance and Personalization” - “Customize Color Scheme” - “Open Properties of Classic Appearance ...” - “Other ...” and set the font to Segoe UI.
