Black hole agile

For a long time I have heard from everywhere that agile (flexible methodologies) is practically a panacea. If you need to improve work efficiency, use it, and everything will be just fine. This was mainly said by software developers :) But I am always interested in the opinion of the other side, and here everything is not so smooth. For most inexperienced customers, agile projects turn into a black hole that consumes time and money at breakneck speed.

By the way, I was pushed by the audio recording of Stas Kalkanov’s presentation “ Agile - a view from the business side ” (44 min., 10 MB) to these thoughts.

How can an inexperienced customer evaluate a software development project? Especially if he is not an expert in software development. Of course, I will not argue that short iterations and feedback with the customer in flexible methodologies allow minimizing risks and getting the really necessary thing. But we must not forget that in flexible methodologies the risk is assumed mainly by the customer. The performer only does what he is told. And it turns out that the customer makes not the right decisions that directly affect the architectural features of the developed software. And the performer is rowing money with a shovel, until the customer is bored: (

In general, use agile with great care and do not forget that the automation of the mess will give an automated mess!
