Software Guitar Processors

Good day, dear. I didn’t write this topic on the “Sound and Music” blog because it doesn’t carry much information. I would like to appeal to the community and ask a question, perhaps not quite related to the topic of Habr. Has anyone used software guitar processors? What are the requirements for computer hardware (I think first of all for the sound card)? The background of my question: being a fan of rock music and all kinds of heavy metal, I decided to independently master the "craft" of playing the electric guitar, I bought the actually inexpensive guitar and a combo amplifier. It works like everything is tolerable, but for various sound effects it is necessary to purchase all sorts of guitar processors or all-in-one devices. Naturally, such a technique does not add up to the price, but my game skills at the present time certainly do not deserve such financial investments. Suddenly the idea struck me: “Why do I need all these gadgets? I have a very good lotion in the household, anything can be done with it :) ”. I connected the combo amplifier to the line input of the sound card, set up the mixer, the sound went through the computer. “The floor is done,” I thought. Here the most interesting began, I began to try various software which could google on the described subject. As a result, nothing, maybe my hands are crooked, and maybe iron is not right — I don’t know. Either there is no sound at all, or just a whistle in the speakers. Tried Guitar Rig, Waves ... Has anyone used similar software? Did you encounter such a task? Thanks in advance for any information.
