Self-study of web technologies from scratch

Oh ... I sit here testing Windows 7 RC1. Naturally, I rummage around Microsoft sites, read developer blogs. Various links lead to all new and new pages. Unfamiliar words make you go to Google, from where you follow ten more links. All this is very interesting to me!

I am a first year student. Faculty of computer science and computing. Specialty - software. Naturally, there is a huge interest in everything related to IT. I want to study web technologies, because I consider them to be one of the most promising in the near (and maybe far) future.

I think everyone knows what kind of education we have in the field of information technology, but to be more exact, none, so you still have to learn everything outside the university, in order to leave them, to have at least some knowledge and be ready for the harsh realities.

So here. Why am I all? There is a great desire to start independently learning these very web technologies. You probably will immediately have a question - what can I do? And I know very little. School Pascal, C literally the basics - approximately to any dynamic arrays, lists, etc. I know HTML, I know a little CSS. PHP tried to study independently two years ago, but again I studied very little.

In general, I am a curious person. I am interested in very many. Therefore, general knowledge in the IT-topic is very extensive. I love messing with OS, I help my friends in setting up.

Well, this is a brief educational program ... Now, actually to the point.

As I have already said, there is a great desire to start in the summer (why in the summer? Because if I start this business now, then by the devil I will score at the session :)) independently start learning anything from the sphere of web technologies. But there is quite a logical question - and where, in fact, begin? Now, various technologies appear almost every day ... And so start something new from scratch ... Somehow, doubts arise immediately.

There are many paths that you can go. But for what?

I already guess that asking such a question is rather stupid, because everyone has their own preferences, everyone has a favorite language, which he will impose on everyone. But still ... If you look objectively? Can you advise something?

Further. By “learning by yourself” I mean studying outside the university. Those. even at home for a book, even enrolling in paid courses (there is a possibility). Again, I ask the advice of "experienced" - which is better? What is more effective?

I would be grateful if you add to your advice the authors of the relevant literature (preferably paper, preferably accessible at least on ozone).

Shl. I'm not friends with the design :)
