Europe develops its operating system superior to Linux and Windows in reliability and security
The European Research Council has announced the results of a competition to develop a Unix-like operating system that is more reliable and secure than Linux or Windows. Grant received a group of experts from the Free University (Vrije Universiteit) from Amsterdam, working under the guidance of Professor Andrew Tanenbaum ( Andrew Tanenbaum ), the creator of the operating system Minix, according to PC World.
According to Professor Tanenbaum, there will always be software errors, so the main task is to create an operating system capable of correcting such errors on its own. Some success in this direction was achieved after an operating system with several cores interacting with each other was created. If an error is detected in one of the system components, this component is blocked, which allows all other parts of the OS to continue functioning.
A new grant of $ 3.3 million will finance the project over the next five years.
