The developers were able to significantly increase the level of detection of unknown threats through the integration of HIPS technology (Host Intrusion Prevention System) and the existing mechanism of advanced heuristics.

This technology is able to block attempts to delete, rename and damage ESET drivers, dynamic communication libraries and running processes, which helps prevent malicious programs from disrupting the effective and stable operation of our solutions. A feature of the Self-Defense System is that it is not represented in the graphical interface, it works at the level of the anti-virus core.
The developers paid special attention to the further development of the technology for early detection of new threats ThreatSense.Net , which allows detecting malware anywhere in the world at the initial stages of propagation. Now, thanks to the integrated module ESET SysInspector , along with samples of potentially malicious software, experts will be able to obtain the necessary data about the features of the user's PC (OS, separate settings).
This information is sent only with the consent of the user in the case when it is really necessary, and helps the virus laboratory specialists to more accurately determine the degree of danger of a suspicious program. The use of ThreatSense.Net technology increases the speed of interaction between developers and end users - as soon as a new threat appears, an update is released for ESET antivirus products worldwide.
A number of technological innovations allow fourth-generation products to securely protect confidential user data, payment passwords and logins, and to ensure the security of communication channels with Internet banking systems. The fourth-generation products of ESET NOD32 are capable of scanning the traffic of HTTPS and POP3S protected connections , as well as email messages received via the IMAP protocol , preventing phishing and pharming attacks.
This feature is not enabled by default and needs to be activated in the advanced settings mode.
Additional benefits are associated with new product functionality. Control of removable media - flash cards, USB-devices - is carried out using a special module. Now you can restrict access to these devices without resorting to reconfiguring the operating system or motherboard. Thanks to this possibility, the risk of infection of the user's PC by malware transmitted via external media (using autorun.inf) is minimized.
ESET NOD32 promptly sends signals to the user or administrator in the absence of installed critical updates for the OS . This reduces the likelihood of a malicious program entering a user's computer through vulnerabilities in operating systems.
