The members of the international corporation ICANN , who have the right to vote, will use this right this coming Friday by expressing their opinion on the expediency of introducing a new domain zone .XXX, intended for hosting porn sites there.
Proponents of its creation argue the need for this step by the fact that in this way it will be easier to control porn (they apparently forgot about the huge number of porn sites already living in .COM and .NET zones). Opponents are confident that the creation of .XXX will only facilitate access to “adult sites” for those they are not intended for — interested young children, for example.
It is not known, however, whether Friday voting will affect the final result.
