Amazing news was reported today by the newspaper Vedomosti. It turns out that the Coordination Center of the RU domain is going to introduce domain registration in the national RU zone upon presentation of a passport. The registrar must send a notarized copy of the passport or come to the office in person with the document. Each domain registrar will be required to verify documents.

It would seem that this is some kind of duck or unreliable hearing. But no, personally the director of the Coordination Center, Andrei Kolesnikov, at the CIB + RIF conference stated that new / old registration rules could be introduced already in May of this year.

To reassure the audience, Kolesnikov explained that it would be possible to register a domain without a passport, but in this case “you can suspend the operation of the site for any user complaint”. What this means is not yet completely clear.

And that is not all. Although the issue with passports has almost been resolved, the Coordination Center wants more. They offer registrars to also record the IP address from which the application for domain registration will come, check the applicant's phone number and record the data on bank cards.
