Automatic restart of the pSeries server after a power failure

Every system administrator is familiar with the situation when suddenly the light disappears. For a long time. At night / weekend / holiday / etc. Each time you turn on the server with your hands under the cheerful shouts of the management and the calls of the heated phones - the procedure is still not pleasant. Therefore, usually in a small enterprise, the administrator tries to make it “work” in the most autonomous mode possible and require human intervention only as a last resort.

On computers with a conventional architecture (x86), restarting power loss is easier than ever to set up: there is a necessary item in the BIOS.

The gorgeous IBM pSeries servers in the default configuration do not suffer from this behavior and require increased attention from the staff. However, in the harsh Russian conditions, the absence of a power supply for a long period is not something extraordinary, but rather is even a very common phenomenon. Fortunately, pSeries are quite versatile and can be trained to wake up on their own after a crash:
At the HMC, you need to log into the ASMI server interface:
1. In the HMC workplace window, select System Management → Servers.
2. In the area that appears, select the server to which you want to connect via ASMI.
3. Select Operations → Advanced System Management (ASM).
In the ASMI window, you need to find the option: Auto Power Restart
By default, it is in the "Disable" state. It is necessary to set it to the “Enable” state.
I laid it out more formally on aixportal.ru , all of a sudden someone would come in handy. It’s not so easy to find this option in a sea of books from IBM. A diesel is not at all.

PS Is there a thematic blog where this article should be placed? About IBM pSeries on Habré something is not very much ...
