Billion downloads in the AppStore

The milestone of 1,000,000,000 (billion) downloads of applications from the AppStore has just been reached! The counter, counting the last millions to the cherished numbers, was posted on the Apple site some time ago. Let me remind you that the AppStore was opened on July 11, 2008. The billionth "download" occurred almost 9 months after opening.
