This new huge network allows hackers, phishers and spammers to join forces to improve their attacks on users and companies. So said a Symantec representative at the latest Internet Security Threat Report. The report suggests that the current online danger environment is characterized by increased information leakage, data theft and the creation of highly specialized, malicious code that steals confidential information for profit. A recently discovered network makes Internet criminals more dangerous, says a Symantec employee.

“Today I don’t have to know how to write a virus or a worm. I just need to know where I can get it, ”says Symantec senior director, Vincent Weafer. "If I want to create a botnet for phishing and spam, I can rent it."

As this network grows, Vincent says, criminals are hiding more and more with encrypted communication channels and other means. “This is another example of how the underground is developing,” he says, “They have already suffered from being outside.”
