Our Russia at Silverlight - RuTube made a Smooth Streaming site

On April 20, at the ReMIX09 conference , we announced the test site of the largest Russian video hosting site RuTube of the Smooth Streaming technology. This technology allows you to dynamically change the picture quality in real time depending on the speed of the Internet channel and the CPU load of the user.

The final version of Smooth Streaming came out yesterday, it is a free add -on to the IIS7 web server, which is included in Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista and Windows 7. The client is a player on Silverlight 2

Right now you can go to http://silverlight.rutube.ru and see it all in action. The page contains a set of videos of different directions and different quality.

A more detailed description of Smooth Streaming and its deployment methods on your local computer can be seen in my online report .

Separately, I would like to note that this is essentially the second in the world of testing this technology after Canadian CTV . Also, a special SmoothHD website has been running for several months, where you can see Smooth Streaming in action.

I urge each of you to try the page in action and describe your impressions in the comments - indicating the Internet channel and region. Practice shows that technology works in many regions of our huge country!

Update: please indicate browsers and systems. On Win7 I tried on IE8, FF3, Chrome . Mac should work too

Update2: try dragging the slider to different parts of the clips
