Police will investigate the leakage of the verdict on The Pirate Bay

Translation of Ernesto's post at TorrentFreak.com.

After the sentencing of the pirate four, the district court asked the police to conduct an investigation among the employees of the court itself, since the verdict in the case was known to the public before the official announcement. Whether the fact of the leak will affect the verdict itself is still unknown.

A few hours before the verdict was announced in court, a journalist informed one of the defendants that they were found guilty. The source of the leak is now being sought at the request of the Stockholm District Court.

“This is very serious,” commented Lena Berke, the head of the district court.

Peter Sunde from The Pirate Bay believes that others could have known in advance about the verdict. Literally ten minutes after its announcement, lawyer from the film industry Monique Wadsted told the Swedish newspaper that he was very well written and that he would stand all the way to the Supreme Court. “I wouldn’t be surprised if I knew that it was she who wrote it,” said Peter.

Peter Althin, Peter's lawyer was unpleasantly surprised and said that he considered it completely unacceptable that the verdict could be known in advance, as in this situation. He noted that in his practice he had never encountered such a case. Sunde himself didn’t look particularly worried about the leak, and even joked about it. “It's really fun,” he wrote on Twitter. “Before, this happened only with movies, and now even the verdicts come out before the official release.”

The Pirate Bay team foresaw its defeat in this matter, but the prison sentence was a surprise. Still, Peter is still optimistic about the outcome of the appeal and is set to end this hectic day with a party in his hometown of Malmo. “The hunt is to play a bit of techno,” he said.
