Thinking out loud (about Debian)

Frankly, lately I have been more and more absorbed in the thought of somehow giving all possible support in promoting the Debian distribution. Unfortunately, my level of English is so lame that I cannot fully correspond with “foreign” developers, and the Russian community has recently become too sluggish. Therefore, I would like to share some of my thoughts here for now, in the hope that they might be able to interest someone.
* It seems to me that it would be useful to create an installation disk with Debian, which contained almost the same set of packages as in Ubuntu. Of course, installing the necessary set of packages through Aptitude is not at all so difficult, nevertheless it’s foolish to deny that most users would be more comfortable with OpenOffice, Synaptic, the update manager and Rhytmbox right out of the box. It would be possible to develop this project, under the brand, say “Debian Easy”.
* Debian is not just a rather unappealing, but terribly confusing site. Why not follow rebranding after openSUSE and Fedora? Although, in pieces, starting with the download page.
* Here on Habré, people create stunning T-shirt designs, while also laying out in open access all the graphic sources! I think it would be great to launch a similar project within the store of merchandise for Debian. People could buy merchandise to support developers, or just free to download the source code and bring it to the end personally. Even in the second case, it will play to the benefit of popularizing the distribution.
* Why not try to go on non-standard ways of marketing? For example, agreeing with a store, handing a free 1.5-liter bottle of beer to each customer for free!
