State Duma wants to "whitewash" online shopping

The working group of the State Duma Information Policy Committee today will review the concept of the Internet law prepared by Astamur Tedeyev, director of the International Research Institute, reports Vedomosti.

According to the concept, the entire Internet is divided into two areas: humanitarian (exchange of letters, non-commercial projects, media) and electronic economic activity. According to the logic of the authors of the concept, the first zone is recommended to provide maximum freedom, and the second should be regulated on a par with ordinary commercial companies. Owners of online stores must fully disclose information about themselves, that is, publish on the site the name of legal entity, address, TIN.

At the moment, at least one third of online stores publish on their sites only a telephone and an e-mail. Although the existing trade legislation requires declaring data about the online store in the municipality in which it operates, however, they have not yet learned how to control them.
